Jon Gariepy’s Influence from the Harbor

Jon Gariepy, an artist to be featured at the Ceramics Annual of America 2012, gains much of his influence from the many hours he has spent exploring harbors and boat yards. He has said that he is “especially moved by aged and battered vessels. There’s a kind of meditative energy emanating from them.” With this in mind, he attempts to create work that is unusual and interesting. He certainly succeeds through his ceramic series of ships and boats. Through his work he explores not only his passion for boats and the sea, he also delves into the issues of personal truths and moment to moment experiences. His work is truly  distinctive and should not be missed.
